Sleeping Little Man

Because I am selling my house and downsizing to a one story, I have packed my scrapbooking supplies until I get resituated. I have several Swirlydoos kits that I've barely looked at. I cannot wait to play with my beautiful paper, stamps, punches, tools, and embellishments. In the meantime, I look in my archives for favorite layouts.

My grandson looks like a little man here, sound asleep on my bed:

I love working with chipboard. Here I used ultra thick embossing enamel (UTEE) over both black and red acrylic paint. The UTEE is clear powder that changes to a cool look once it is heated; it can be used over any color.

Playing in the Dirt

This layout is mounted on a background of purple cardstock embellished with acrylic paint. I love all these flowers that surround my granddaughter who plays in the dirt.

Some of the flowers are painted chipboard. Others were cut from printed paper. The word "DIRT," is created with chipboard letters that have a pre-glued surface that easily adheres to glitter.

Embossed Greeting Cards

I have a pretty good system for making greeting cards. They do not look homemade to the untrained eye (to a non-scrapbooker). I select two or three beautiful printed papers and combine them. Then I emboss a stamped design on some card stock by sprinkling embossing powder onto the wet pigment ink and then drying it with the heating tool. Then I affix the card stock to the layers of printed paper. Here's an angel from Christmas. I added both Stickles and Liquid Pearls to give even more bling to the embossed angel:

Sugar, Spice and Blocks

Little girls are more than sugar, spice, dress up and dolls. Playing with blocks can be fun, too.

This paper came from my stash. I used three different punches for this layout. Lots of Stickles and Liquid Pearls. Most of the flowers are cut from a printed page design and topped with bling. The bottom flower is a super giant punch; I bought the large button and the heart doily from my local store Jazzy Crafts.

The flourishes are painted acrylic and topped with Stickles. The small silver butterflies are punched out and shaded with chalk. The title card is typed, cut out, shaped with a rounder. I stamped tiny designs on the face of the card. Everything is distressed with either ink or chalk.

Let's Ride

When it's cold outside, I move the chairs, so the kids have a pathway on which to ride their little bikes....as long as they don't leave skid marks. Even when they leave marks, they love to clean the floor, so all is good.



My paper layers came out of my stash. I distressed nearly everything with Decorating Chalks by Craf-T Products. I painted the chipboard stems and the grungeboard letters in "RIDE!" with acrylic paint, and I highlighted the circles with chalk. The "Let's" letters are Blue Alpha Transfers.

Layout with the Big Eyes

There was a very popular artist in the sixties who was known for the big eyes of all the subjects (mostly women) she painted. Her name was Margaret Keane, and there is a movie forthcoming about her life. I often think about those paintings when I look at my granddaughter and her amazing, beautiful eyes.

When I saw this photo, I was compelled to find some Keane paintings, and I've included some copies in this layout.

I typed the journaling on the top of the L/O and colored its edges with chalk. I colored the tiny clear stamps of a bird and flowers with gel pens. I painted the large chipboard flower with acrylic paint and topped it with Stickles.

Sopping Wet

I keep extra t-shirts at my house so the kids can get as dirty or wet as they want when they visit. These pictures follow our fight with the super soakers. These photos show how to ring out a t-shirt while you're still wearing it.



I love working with browns, bronze and gold, but I need to find a better way to photograph things that shine so I don't get this glare. Here are some general guidelines for this layout:

Lots of Bling

My favorite embellishments are chipboard, grungeboard, Stickles (glitter glue) and Liquid Pearls. This is a photo of my granddaughter, playing with stickers. I have embellished the whole page with Stickles and Liquid Pearls. I also love the lace and the pink ribbon.

Newspaper Print and Sepia

I had to look at this photo of my grandson awhile to figure out exactly where he is and what he is doing. He is rolling backwards on the floor on top of a colorful throw rug. I love the spirit of my grandson that is revealed in so many photos. I think the muted shades of this sepia print somehow make it easier to catch his silly mood.
